Meet Seb

Born and raised in Phoenix, Sebastian “Seb” Maximiliano Matta was born to an Argentine father and a Venezuelan mother on July 21st, 2007. Sebs dad is a car crash investigator at a firm specializing in car accidents and his mom is an office manager at an elementary school.

Seb has been through public schools all his life, starting in kindergarten at Kenilworth Elementary. In second grade Seb started his second grade at Lookout Mountain Elementary in North Phoenix, followed by Mountain Sky Jr. High, and finally finishing off at Thunderbird High School.

Throughout high school Seb was extremely involved in extracurriculars and sports. Seb acted in four theater productions throughout his time in theater and was admitted into the International Thespian Honor Society. Furthermore Seb was an active participant in Speech and Debate competing in the National Speech and Debate Association. He attended over 24 tournaments in his three years competing with Thunderbird and attended four national tournaments. He also served as the Career Technical Education (CTE) President for the Fire Service class on campus and also played Varsity Chess and Tennis and did Academic Decathlon winning silver and bronze in a few events at the state level in his division.

Seb became interested in the Clerk’s office at an early age when he visited as a toddler with his dad on take your son to work days. Later in life while in Speech and Debate, Seb became passionate about politics and political debate. Being around so many other people his age who were as interested in politics as he was inspired him to someday run for office. Seb saw issues in the Clerk’s office he sought to resolve and decided to run in August of 2025. Ever since then, Seb has been passionate about his campaign and has been going to countless LD meetings, Democratic clubs, and put in over 20k miles in his car.

In his free time, Seb enjoys watching the Arizona Diamondbacks and is also an avid fan of the Argentine national soccer team. He enjoys playing squash, fencing, and is a big Animal Crossing fan. You can also find him hanging out with his friends and coaching his old high school debate team.
